Carus Corporation Appoints New Board Member

6 May 2008

LaSalle/Peru, IL – Carus Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of John V. Venegoni to its Board of Directors. As a long time employee of Stepan Company, Venegoni has moved up through the ranks to his current position as Vice President and General Manager, in which he is managing the global surfactants business for Stepan. Venegoni’s national and global professional experience will be a valuable asset in assisting a mid-sized chemical manufacturer such as Carus as they face the many challenges and opportunities in the global market.

Venegoni began his career in R&D with Stepan in 1982. He successfully advanced through the technical ranks before assuming responsibility for their Personal Care business in 1990. Since then, he has held numerous business positions before assuming his current position as the Vice President and General Manager of the global surfactant business in 2006. Venegoni has both a B.A. in Chemical Engineering and a M.B.A. from the University of Illinois. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Soap and Detergent Association. In his new role as a member of Carus’ Board, Venegoni will join other board members in an oversight role for general management of the company. In that capacity, he will provide new ideas for strategic direction, oversee implementation of plans, and monitor performance.

Carus Corporation, founded in LaSalle, IL, in 1915, is the world leader in permanganates, phosphates, and base metal catalysts, all of which Carus manufactures mainly for environmental applications: to improve the quality of drinking water, to treat municipal and industrial wastewater, in air purification systems, and in the clean-up of contaminated sites.
