LaSalle/Peru, IL – Mark Bye, who has been a Director of Carus Corporation for the last 13 years, has recently been appointed Managing Director and Operating Partner with Morgan Stanley Private Equity in London. Bye will focus on creating value through assessing companies, particularly in the industrial sector, for leveraged buyouts, corporate divestitures, sponsored recapitalizations, joint ventures and other direct investments, and will help oversee the management and strategies for those businesses. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he served as President and CEO of DyStar, GmbH, a German-based 1 billion Euro private equity owned leading global provider of dyes, chemicals, and services to textile, leather, and fashion industries. He has also provided consulting services to companies and private equity firms through his company The Bye Group, LLC. Prior to moving into private equity, Mr. Bye spent 23 years at Air Products and Chemical, Inc. after joining the company from Union Carbide. While at Air Products, he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility ultimately leading the $7 billion industrial gases and equipment group. Reporting to the CEO, Mr. Bye was one of the company’s top two operating officers and a member of its Corporate Executive Committee. His breadth and depth of experience with the company included leadership positions based in Asia, Europe and the United States, as well as extensive representation of the firm with external constituencies in the investment community, government, and the media.

Mr. Bye holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also attended advanced management programs at the Harvard Business School and INSEAD, an international graduate business school. Mark’s wealth of knowledge and experience has made him a valued member of the Carus Corporation Board of Directors for a number of years. Bye chairs the Strategic Planning Committee of the board, which is instrumental in providing new ideas and methods for strategic direction as well as serving in an oversight roll for plan implementation and performance. Mr. Bye lives in London with his wife and three children.
