Carus appoints Norman Christensen

LaSalle/Peru, IL – Carus Corporation is pleased to announce that effective 20 September 2010, Norman L. Christensen  will join Carus as Vice President and General Manager, Alexander Chemical, reporting to Inga Carus, CEO.  Alexander Chemical was acquired in February of this year by Carus, and is a leading packager and marketer of water purification products, primarily used in the municipal drinking water market in the Midwest.  

Christensen began his career at OxyChem in Niagara Falls, NY, holding positions in multiple business units, starting as a Process Engineer and gaining successive promotions, and ultimately served as Vice President and General Manager, Chrome Chemicals Division. After nearly 25 years with OxyChem, Christensen joined Kemira Pigments in Savannah, Georgia as President. During his tenure at Kemira, Christensen developed an aggressive turnaround plan while emphasizing Responsible Care® and excellence in safety and environmental sensitivity.  Christensen was most recently with ERCO Worldwide in Toronto, Canada, as Vice President/General Manager, Chlor-Alkali Operations.    

Christensen has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Chlorine Institute, Director of ASIQUIM – Chile’s Chemical Manufacturers Association, member of the Chlorine Chemistry Council, Member of the Alliance for Environmental Technology, and Director of the Indian Princess YMCA program in Dallas, Texas.   He holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and completed the Northeastern Executive Management program.      Mr. Christensen’s extensive experience and knowledge in the Chlor-Alkali market will be a valuable asset to Carus.
