BENEFITS
  • Treats remote locations
  • Prevents sulfide-based corrosion
  • Long lasting, requires less manpower
  • Simple to feed, no pumps or mechanical equipment
  • Eliminates health risks associated with hydrogen sulfide exposure
  • Saves additional money by eliminating electrical consumption and
  • feed equipment costs

HANDLING, STORAGE, AND INCOMPATIBILITY
Like any strong oxidant, CAIROX CR extruded potassium permanganate should be handled with care. Protective equipment during handling should include face shields and/or goggles, rubber or plastic gloves. An appropriate NIOSH-MSHA dust or mist respirator should be worn.

The product should be stored in a cool, dry, area in a closed container. Concrete floors are preferred. Spills should be collected and disposed of properly.

As an oxidant, the product itself is non-combustible, but will accelerated the burning of combustible materials. Therefore, contact with all combustible materials and/or chemicals must be avoided. These include but are not limited to: wood, cloth, organic chemicals, and charcoal. Avoid contact with acids, peroxides, sulfites, oxalates, and all other oxidizable inorganic chemicals. With hydrochloric acid, chlorine is liberated. Consult the MSDS for additional safety related information.

USE
CAIROX CR extruded potassium permanganate is applied through a specially designed polyester mesh bag (available through Carus Corporation). The bag is filled with extrusions and then lowered into the wastewater stream. The amount of product fed into the system is increased by lowering the more of the bag into the wastewater. As original material dissolves, the amount of product consumed can be measured by loss in weight and additional product can be added to the bag.

MATERIALS COMPATIBILITY
CAIROX CR extruded potassium permanganate is compatible with many metals and synthetic materials. Natural rubbers and fibers are often incompatible.

Aluminum, zinc, copper, lead, and alloys containing these materials may be slightly affected by potassium permanganate solutions. Actual corrosion or compatibility studies should be made under the conditions in which the permanganate will be used prior to used.
