Carus Corporation Announces EU Approval of a new Standard for the use of Sodium Permanganate

Carus Corporation is pleased to announce that the European Union (EU) has established a new standard for the use of sodium permanganate for treating water intended for human consumption. This new standard, EN:15482:2007, was approved on 1 November 2007. The standard is currently being published by each of the various member countries. Carlos Hevia of the Carus Europe group is an active member of CEN/TC164/WG9, the European Norms Committee for Drinking Water. He participates in Working Group 9 (WG9) and also sits in Task Group 6 (TG6), the group specifically focused on norms related to disinfectants.

The standard describes the characteristics of sodium permanganate and specifies the requirements and the corresponding test methods for
sodium permanganate. It gives information on the various applications in water treatment. For more detailed information about the application
