CARUS CHEMICAL COMPANY EARNS CERTIFICATION
Peru, IL. - Carus Chemical Company headquarters
in Peru recently received its Certificate of
Registration for implementation of a Responsible
Care(r) Management System. The Responsible Care
Management System (RCMS) was developed by the
American Chemistry Council and defines the
management process needed to effectively manage
environmental, health, safety, and security
requirements, going above and beyond government
regulations.
According to Inga Carus, CEO of Carus Chemical
Company, "Building an effective management
system is a necessary part of doing business,
and our successful certification was
accomplished through the hard work and
engagement of every employee of Carus Chemical.
As we continue to assess our needs and set
specific performance goals through our
Responsible Care Management System, we foresee
many benefits, including increased operating
efficiency, cost reduction, and a greater
ability to provide innovative products,
services, and support to our customers and
stakeholders."
The Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security
(EHSS) Policy of Carus Chemical Company is:
• To protect the environment and to assure the
health, safety, and security of employees,
customers, suppliers, and the community in which
we operate.
• To comply with all applicable environmental,
health, safety, and security laws, regulations,
and Responsible Care(r) related requirements.
• To continually improve environmental, health,
safety, and security performance and pollution
prevention through the development, review, and
achievement of annual targets and objectives.
• To communicate with employees, customers, and
the public, and to foster open dialogue
regarding our EHSS goals and performance.
Carus Chemical Company is dedicated to assuring
the involvement, commitment, and leadership of
every member of the organization including
senior management in the fulfillment of this
EHSS Policy, the Guiding Principles of
Responsible Care, and the Responsible Care
Management System.

The registration was granted to Carus Chemical
Company following a third-party certification
audit conducted in December by NSF-ISR, an
international firm that carries out quality
management systems registration for companies
striving to excel in the increasing global
marketplace.
Carus Chemical Company was founded in 1915 in
LaSalle, Illinois on the site where its main
manufacturing facility is still located. It is
the world's largest manufacturer of permanganate
and is the world leader in permanganate and
manganese chemistry. The most important uses of
Carus products are in environmental applications
- in water purification to improve drinking
water quality, in wastewater treatment, and in
remediation of contaminated sites. Carus
